The UHF frequency band is regulated by a single global standard called the ECP global Gen2 (ISO 18000-6C) UHF standard, which uses the 860 to 960 MHz band. The read range of passive UHF systems can be as long as 12 m, and UHF RFID has a faster data transfer rate than LF or HF. UHF RFID is the most sensitive to interference.
The majority of UHF systems operate between 860 and 960 megahertz. The distances for UHF tags are usually measured in feet and meters. While the tags are an excellent fit for objects that require fast identification from a distance, the tags are significantly impacted by liquids.
Because of the distance, lower cost, and quick transfer rates that come with the UHF platform, this technology has become popular for industrial applications and organizations looking for logistical improvements.
There are different frequency ranges of RFID UHF based on their compliance with a particular country’s regulations. Prominently, there are three frequency ranges that are often used in worldwide RFID implementations:
In USA as per FCC: 902-928 MHz
In Europe as per ETSI: 865-868 MHz
Globally used: 860-960 MHz
